Welcome to www.cornish-stocker.com !

www.cornish-stocker.com  is the coming together of many different websites and pages over the years into one place.

Photographer and author - Clive Stocker - has been taking pictures of the Duchy for many years as well as researching local interest material. As this site grows; much of this information will be added.

Now, it has been asked where the logo based on a map of Cornwall and the black and white flag original from and why I use them.

Both map and flag are easy to explain - as I come from Cornwall they seemed the obvious images to use to publicise myself!

The flag is the flag of St.Piran, the patron saint of Cornwall who sailed from Ireland to convert the heatern Cornish to christianity! He landed on the north coast of Cornwall (about half way down the map) at a place called Perranporth where he built his first chapel.
This chapel has unfortunately being buried by drifting sand over the course of time, unearthed, buried again, unearthed - covered in a concrete building which also in turn has been buried!
Not for nothing it's also known as the Lost Church!

So while the flag is a symbol of Cornish pride, the map of Cornwall is unquie also. Cornwall is almost an Island - the River Tamar forms much of it's eastern border and is surrounded on all other sides by the sea. The only border is shared with the county of Devon in England.

Finally for now, if you wish to purchase any of the images on the site please drop us a line.

If you wish to use an image on your website, please again contact us rather than copying. Not only is that illegal but we may be able to furnish you with a better picture with less copyright graphics added to it!

Best wishes and we hope you enjoy the site!
