St.Ives

St. Ives is a favourite with tourists and locals alike, it's tiny and winding alleys give the feeling of a more relaxed time. Easy to reach by car or by train, the latter has to be definately recommended as the railway follows the amazing coast line from St.Erth all the way to St.Ives.

The town is an excellent base for any visitor - with three clean beaches and busy harbour - many tourists don't leave the town for their entire stay! Yet just a few miles away wild moorland and abandoned tinemines litter the landscape.

The Crown Tin Mines

The Crown Mines stand at the foot of a perilous clift. The mine closed many years ago and the area pays testimony to the industry with support buildings and ventilation shafts standing idle.

Sennen

Between Lands End and Cape Cornwall is situated the main beach in West Cornwall. Facing directly into the Atlantic it bears the worst of any gale the ocean cares to throw at Cornwall! Yet in summer time the waters are mild and the beach crowded by sun-worshippers!

St.Michaels Mount

Just off the coast from the ancient town of Marizion - this mysterious island stands with an ancient castle, tiny port and associated warehouses. Now managed by the National Trust the island is a must for anyone visitoing the county.
